A quest to do battle with the greatest freshwater fish on the planet

Exploring Africa and her waterways has been a part of mans earliest quests and challenges. Where there is water there is life! Creatures of all shapes and sizes inhabit these delicate ecosystems and man has been fascinated by them since the beginning of time.  In the mid 1800’s explorers were obsessed in finding the source of the Nile and other major African rivers like the Zambezi and the Congo Rivers.  Most of the rivers and lakes in Africa has been mapped and explored but the inhabitants of some of these wild places remained untouched. Cultures and traditions are as diverse as the rivers themselves and amazing stories, myths and legends can still be found should one know where to look for them.  Rivers and lakes has provided people with a livelihood since their creation, and fishing still plays an integral part of mans existence in Africa.

African Waterdogs is a concept that was conceived out more than 30 years of combined passion and experience in fishing for the spectacular Tiger fish or Water dog as it is also referred to. Even though all three of us are under the age of 35, 2 of have been stalking tiger fish in remote African waters since the age of 7. It is this passion and the belief that no other freshwater fish compares in strength, beauty and ferocity that we all share. We want to share this experience with others and show off some of the most spectacular places that sub-Saharan Africa has to offer.
